Visitor Safety Guidelines

To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant in areas with substantial/high transmission, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that every person—vaccinated and unvaccinated—wear a mask when inside public spaces. For that reason, all visitors age 2 and above are required to wear masks while inside our museum, and our staff members and volunteers will be wearing masks, too. Masks are available on-site if you should need one. If you are not able to wear a mask, we invite you to explore our virtual offerings at Science at Home opens in a new window, until the time comes when mask-wearing is no longer required.

Please note: For the safety of our visitors and staff, guests who do not follow posted safety guidelines or instructions from staff will be asked to leave the premises.

If you or a family member have not been vaccinated, please consider taking this important step to protect yourselves and others around you!

WHAT WE ASK OF OUR VISITORS

At Carnegie Museums, we are committed to the safety of our staff and all who visit. Our visitor guidelines are designed to help keep you and our staff members and volunteers safe while you enjoy your experiences at the museums.

  • Visitors age 2 years and over are asked to wear masks or other close-fitting face coverings over the nose and mouth.Museum staff and volunteers will be wearing masks, too. We follow this important updated PA Department of Health guideline to protect ourselves and each other. Visitors who, for medical reasons, cannot wear a mask or other close-fitting face covering may instead wear a plastic face shield that covers the nose and mouth, extends below the chin and to the ears, and leaves no exposed gap between the forehead and the shield’s headpiece. If you have questions, please call and speak with a Visitor Services representative at 412.237.3400. Before arrival, visitors should consider the following:
  • Please maintain at least six feet between your group members and others
  • Please use hand sanitizer before and after you interact with exhibits
  • Please stay to the right on the ramps and stairs and only use elevators if necessary
  • Purchase tickets online, in advance of your visit (service charge has been temporarily eliminated)
  • If you must purchase at the ticket counter, please use a credit card or touchless payment
  • Limit elevator use – If you need the elevator, limit one family or social group per ride

Tables and chairs must remain in place in Riverview Café to ensure social distancing (do not move chairs or tables under any circumstances). Party decorations, table coverings, etc. are not permitted.
