Visitor Safety Guidelines

We’ve taken extraordinary measures to provide the experience that you trust and expect from a visit to any of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.

The Science Center will open 10 am–noon on Wednesdays for those in our community who are most at risk – seniors, visitors with disabilities, or those with compromised immune systems. We ask that other visitors respect these dedicated hours. Capacity will be even further limited during that time period.

Please note: Riverview Café at Carnegie Science Center is closed for dining due to COVID-19.

WHAT WE ASK OF OUR VISITORS

  • Each visitor must wear a face mask that covers their nose and mouth
    • Masks should not be placed on children under age 2. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, please check in with our Admissions team when redeeming your timed entry ticket.
  • Please maintain at least six feet between your group members and others
  • Please use hand sanitizer before and after you interact with exhibits
  • Please stay to the right on the ramps and stairs and only use elevators if necessary
  • Purchase tickets online, in advance of your visit (service charge has been temporarily eliminated)
  • If you must purchase at the ticket counter, please use a credit card or touchless payment
  • Limit elevator use – If you need the elevator, limit one family or social group per ride
  • Larger groups are required to social distance in Riverview Café: Tables and chairs must remain in place to ensure social distancing (do not move chairs or tables under any circumstances). Masks should be worn when not actively eating. Party decorations, table coverings, etc. are not permitted.

For your safety and the safety of those around you, all visitors age 3 years and over are required to wear masks over the nose and mouth. All museum staff and volunteers will be wearing masks, too. Let’s all follow this important CDC Guideline to protect ourselves and each other.

Please note: We reserve the right to require that visitors who do not follow posted safety guidelines or instructions from our staff will be asked to leave the premises. Failure to comply with this policy or rude or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. Please see our Visitor Conduct Policy for more information.
