
Sensory Sensitive 18+ Night

Adults ages 18 and over are invited to explore Carnegie Science Center in a low-stimulus, child-free environment. This evening is for adults who might get overwhelmed by crowds or loud soundscapes; for people with or without disabilities, including anyone who would simply enjoy a more relaxed museum visit.

Step into the new, immersive “Mental Health: Mind Matters” exhibition, designed to break stigma, build understanding, and spark conversation. This exhibit brings the science of mental health to life through immersive interactives and personal stories, offering a deeper look into the complexities of mental well-being. (CW: Contains potentially sensitive material.)

Enjoy our unique and relaxed-format “free-flow” stargazing show, “Stars for All!”, in Buhl Planetarium. Shows will be adjusted for light and sound, and the theater doors will remain open. (6:30 and 8 p.m.; approximately 40 minutes each)

Engage with animal artifacts and enjoy accessible demonstrations on ecology, conservation, and local flora and fauna, presented by our Animal and Habitats Department. (Throughout the event)

Take your time exploring Carnegie Science Center’s many exciting exhibits, such as Miniature Railroad and Village®, Mars: The Next Giant Leap®, BodyWorks, SpacePlace, and H2Oh! – all without crowds.

Snacks, cocktails, and mocktails are available for purchase in the RiverView Café. (Food and beverage not included with ticket. ID required for alcohol purchase.)

Accommodations:
A Quiet Room, sensory backpacks, noise-cancelling headphones, and assistive/adaptive devices are available upon request and free of charge. Electric Scooters available to rent on-site for $25.
