21+ Night: Paws and Claws

From fur to scales to feathers, we can all agree that our pets are part of the family. Celebrate them with us at the Science Center on National Pet Day! Learn about some interesting animal science, explore the exhibits after hours, and meet local animal rescues.

  • Sip on some themed cocktails while you explore the Science Center’s five floors of exhibits.
  • Snuggle up with some therapy dogs from Animal Friends, and learn about the mental health benefits of pets.
  • Meet some “purrfect” adoptable cats from Oakland TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release)
  • Learn about and meet some small mammals from the local rescue, Underground Squeaks.
  • Participate in fun science demos that might just teach you something about your own pet!
  • Meet veterinarian Leslie Blawut and learn about the field of veterinary science and what really happens past the reception desk.
  • Take a look at the animal ambassadors who live at the Science Center and hear from our Animals and Habitats team.

21+ Night: Astronomy

Fri., May 9
6–10 p.m.

On May 7, 1925, the first modern planetarium was created, setting the standard for the more than 4,000 planetariums that exist today! Celebrate 100 years of bringing the stars to Earth at the Carnegie Science Center. Learn about space through science demos and dance the night away.

  • Drink some galactic cocktails and explore five floors of exhibits.
  • Enjoy multiple shows in Buhl Planetarium, the 5th major planetarium built in the US!
  • Get groovy with a disco in our Mars: The Next Giant Leap® exhibit.
  • Hear from experts in the astronomy field and learn about recent findings.
  • Participate in fun science activities and learn about the science of space.
