About Us: Honoring the Kamin Family’s Transformational Legacy
Carnegie Science Center is entering a new chapter in its history, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the Kamin family. Later this year, we will proudly become the Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Science Center, in recognition of their historic $65 million gift and lifelong commitment to fostering curiosity, creativity, and discovery.
For Dan Kamin, the story of his connection to the Science Center began as a young boy, captivated by visits to the Buhl Planetarium & Institute of Popular Science, the precursor to the Science Center. Those early experiences sparked a passion for discovery, inspiring him to build his own telescope and fueling a lifelong love for the sciences.
“I vividly recall crafting my own telescope after many inspired visits to The Buhl, so I have a great appreciation for the role the Sciene Center plays in educating and inspiring our young people.”

Daniel G. Kamin built his own telescope when he was a teenager.
A Transformational Gift
Dan and Carole’s landmark donation has paved the way for unprecedented growth at the Science Center. Their generosity enables us to expand our programming, enhance exhibits, and ensure that everyone can explore and connect with the world of science, technology, and more.
