Themed Field Trips

Special themed field trip days allow your students to focus in on important science topics, while interacting with tons of hands-on exhibits and meeting some of the best and brightest professionals in the field!


Oct 24, – Oct 25, 2014

Discover everyday uses for chemistry with dozens of hands-on exhibits and demonstrations presented by local companies, colleges, and universities. Create fruit batteries, UV active bracelets and homemade invisible ink. Experiment with fluorescence, phosphorescence, chemiluminescence, and so much more! Plus, have a chance to interact with professionals who are working in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.

ChemFest is a catalyst for fun and learning, so bring the whole family and discover how chemistry is cool!

Attention Schools:
On Friday, high school students are invited to ChemFest Career Café, a fast-paced introduction to careers in an informal setting. They can check out demos, enjoy café-style beverages, and chat with industry professionals. Limited capacity, pre-registration required. Call 412.237.3400, then press 7.

Enjoy a Career Connections brownbag lunch. Bring your own lunch, and chat with graduate students about exploring careers with University of Pittsburgh PhD students in the Department of Bioengineering, which has six tracks in bioengineering: cellular and organ engineering, biomechanics, biosignals and imaging, physiology and biophysics, neural engineering, and medical product engineering. They will discuss their amazing research and career path choices. Bring your own questions!

Inspire your students to explore a career in engineering as they engage in hands-on activities, interact with professionals in the field, and check out presentations at more than 50 event tables.
