Summer Camps Ages 8–9

Is your camp sold out? If restrictions change this summer and we’re able to offer additional camps or increase our capacity, please fill out this form opens in a new window to be notified. We are constantly monitoring all recommendations by the PA Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Please note, you will only be notified by email if there are any changes to the current camp schedule.

Upon booking, an email receipt will be sent confirming your Summer Camp registration. An official welcome packet, including additional details and necessary forms, will be emailed in Spring 2021. We’re following all recommendations by the PA Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Questions? Carnegie Science Center Summer Camps are specifically developed for the age group listed. To make the most of your campers’ experience, they must be the appropriate age on the date the selected camp begins. If necessary, Science Center staff will contact you to reschedule your camper.

Combine hardware and software to create solutions to a variety of STEAM-centered challenges using Sphero Robotics! Design a miniature golf course and program Sphero to be the golf ball! Try your hand at robotic art, build and race with chariots, and navigate through obstacle courses.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to hone your powers of observation and master mental and physical challenges as you train to be a spy. Conduct experiments to detect poisonous substances, decipher top-secret codes, and test gadgets like night vision goggles and listening devices.

Mars, the Red Planet! Follow the journey of robotic rovers to our celestial neighbor and discover the challenges of living on another planet. Explore otherworldly geology, then join up with your fellow space scientists to assemble a crew and design a Mars colony.

Set off on a kid-tested, Mother Nature-approved adventure to explore the wild side of science! Identify local flora and fauna and examine the microscopic life hiding in a scoop of soil or a drop of river water. Embark on virtual field trips to explore exotic biomes all over the world, then get up close with our on-site animal ambassadors.

Experience firsthand all the latest technologies: 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, and other CNC machines. Learn the design software for both 2D and 3D machines and make daily projects to take home.
