Get a taste for animation as you explore the basics while creating your own short film! Dive into the storyboarding process, what it takes to create a stop-motion scene and try your hand at flipbook animation. Work with your production team to create a short film with the tools you learn, and after adding the final touches- end the week with a viewing of your short film in The Rangos Giant Cinema!

Do you love solving puzzles and deciphering codes? Challenge yourself to solve a series of escape boxes and mini escape rooms while learning about astronomy, chemistry, biology, and more. Discover different ways to make creative puzzles with anything from ciphers to circuits, and then design your own science-themed room to test your fellow campers!

Explore the fascinating world of robotics as you design and program robots to carry out a variety of tasks, from fetching items and playing games to creating music and even watering plants! Use LEGO® Mindstorms EV3’s and Hummingbird Robotics Kits to solve problems and have fun, all while learning essential computer programming and engineering skills.

Explore the science of STEM! Use Vernier sensors to gather data and measure environmental factors such as humidity, temperature, pH, and acidity. Dig into geology, navigate watersheds, and examine extreme weather. Finally, explore renewable energy sources by constructing and testing working windmills and investigating nuclear power.

Survivor’s Guide: After the Apocalypse

A zombie apocalypse has occurred and has sent civilization back to a world without modern conveniences. Learn how the zombie disease is spreading and how to avoid being infected. Figure out how to survive in the new world by navigating without GPS, finding clean food and water, and engineering helpful tools.

Campers will run, jump, and explore a pixelated world of their own making. This revamped beginner’s camp will explore every element and step of the videogame design process from character design and level layouts to scripts and debugging. Students will leave this camp with the beginnings of their own game to build on at home.

Please note: This camp builds upon last year’s 10–11 Video Game Design camp, but it is not required.

Experience firsthand all the latest technologies: 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, and other CNC machines. Learn design software for both 2D and 3D machines and make daily projects to take home.

Build electrifying projects in the lab! This hands-on camp will introduce you to circuits, hardware, and programming, setting you up for an adventure into electronics and robotics. Take home a curated Arduino electronics kit at the end of the week.

Use 3D design software to design characters and bring them to life! Explore lighting and camera effects to create a new world for your digital characters. Sculpt and animate your characters using Blender before 3D printing them as they go from ‘bits’ to ‘its’.

Digital Fabrication is about more than just making cool stuff. Learn how teens around the world have used digital fabrication technology to make the world a better place, then brainstorm ways that you can do so in your own community! You’ll then learn and use our digital fabrication technology to prototype your solutions.
