Start planning for summer camp exploration and fun! Programs are offered for ages 4–14.
Explore video game science, virtual reality, digital storytelling, space, robotics, biology, art, and so much more to foster curiosity and scientific inquiry! The Science Center offers Summer Camps for kids in Pittsburgh that are exciting, fun, active, and enriching.

Full-day camps run from 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Campers must bring a bagged lunch.

Carnegie Science Center Summer Camps are specifically developed for the age group listed. To make the most of your campers’ experience, they must be the appropriate age on the date the selected camp begins.

Look to the skies as we take off for adventure! Explore potential and kinetic energy and experiment with Newton’s Laws of Motion. Test different airplane designs in a wind tunnel, learn how to safely land a helicopter on a flight deck, then construct a rocket and blast off.

Playing with your food is encouraged here! Take a bite out of science with experiments using kitchen ingredients. Learn about the science behind food, discover how cooking alters your food, and uncover some unusual uses for items in your pantry.
Please note: This camp requires handling items with dairy, wheat, sugar, and eggs. Campers may be tasting a few of these experiments.

Put your ingenuity to the test as you work in small teams to design, build and program a variety of motorized machines with LEGO® WeDo 2.0 kits. Experiment with robotic sensors and add motors to create contraptions that drive, pull, grab and more.

“Wow” your friends and family with science! Follow in the footsteps of the great magicians like Houdini and Copperfield. Spend the week learning the marvels of magic tricks, illusions, and science. Practice putting on your own magic show to show off for friends and families at home. It’s Abracascience!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to hone your powers of observation and master mental and physical challenges as you train to be a spy. Conduct experiments to detect poisonous substances, decipher top secret codes, and test gadgets like night vision goggles and listening devices.

Experience firsthand all the latest technologies in digital fabrication at BNY Fab Lab: 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, and other CNC machines. Learn the design software for both 2D and 3D machines and make daily projects to take with you! Perfect for campers who have never been to the Fab Lab before, as well as those with prior experience.

Go on a mission with fellow astronauts, and design structures for a voyage to Mars. What would it take to get there and live on Mars? Once on the Red Planet, build and code a Vex Go robot “rover” to travel to the surface of Mars to complete various coding challenges.
