Mars: The Next Giant Leap – Carnegie Science Center

Kaya — Ukulele

Kaya: *singing*

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high. There’s a planet I heard of once in a lullaby.

Somewhere over the rainbow, rovers fly…

*talking*

Hey mom, do rovers bounce on Earth like they do here?

Freya: No honey, Earthlings drive cars and they’re pretty stuck to the ground.

Kaya: That’s so weird. Okay I’ll change it to “over the rainbow cars DON’T fly.”

Freya: That’s very good.

Kaya: Oh, and what’s a “chimney top”?

Freya: Earth homesteads sometimes get heated with real fire, so they need a big vent to let all the smoke out. That’s a chimney.

Kaya: Fire inside? That’s wild. Why don’t they just use solar power?

Freya: I don’t know, they’re old fashioned, I guess. Let us know when your new lyrics are finished, we can have a sing-along after dinner.

Kaya: Okay! *singing and strumming continues*
