Registration

How to register for camp

Online registration is the most effective way to secure your place in camp. Registration can also be done with a credit card over the phone. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Call 412.237.3400 to register.

Upon booking, an email receipt will be sent confirming your Summer Camp registration. You will also receive two emails – the first email will be sent automatically and come from Ecommerce@CarnegieMuseums.org with appropriate camp permission forms. You will receive another email later in the spring with your official Summer Camp Welcome Packet.

What is your safety policy?

Based on current best practices, we require masks for program participants and program staff when the Allegheny County COVID-19 Community Level designation is at the red/high mark.

Please note, campers’ adults, caregivers, and families are not permitted in the classrooms. We take pride in fostering confidence and independence in our campers while maintaining safety standards.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Carnegie Science Center reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient registration, inclement weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. All registered participants will have the option of attending another camp (pending availability) or receiving a full refund. We will communicate by email if there are any changes to camps for which you are registered at least two weeks prior to your scheduled camp.

All changes or cancellations to camp reservations must be completed by May 31. Prior to May 31, all cancellations will be subject to a refund of up to the full price of the camp minus a $50 fee, per camp. For those camps purchased after May 31 there will be no changes, cancellations, or refunds issued.

The Camp Experience

What’s Included

Camp registration fees include all scheduled activities, instruction, time to explore the Science Center, and a Summer Camp T-shirt. Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh Members enjoy discounted fees. Fees vary by length of camp, materials and technology usage, and field trips costs.

Daily Activities and Schedule

The Summer Camp experience is specially designed to offer opportunities the school-year classroom cannot, with plenty of individual hands-on activities, supervised exploration, and interactive fun. In addition to classroom experiments and projects, campers will explore different museum exhibits each day, and experience shows in our demonstration theaters throughout the week.

Is lunch provided?

Lunch is not provided by Carnegie Science Center. Campers need to bring a lunch from home that does not need to be heated or refrigerated. Lunches should be brought in a disposable bag with the campers’ name clearly marked on it.

A small snack will be provided to campers each day. All snacks are nut free, but may include other allergens, so please clearly indicate any food allergies on the camp permission form. Campers may bring their own alternative snack from home if there are allergy concerns; however, outside food may not be shared with other campers.

Who are the camp instructors?

Carnegie Science Center camp instructors are teachers, college students majoring in science or education, and childcare professionals. Camps are designed by instructors and full-time Carnegie Science Center professionals to be age-appropriate, stimulating, and exciting. All Camp staff members – instructors and assistants – have passed thorough background checks.

Looking for summer employment? We are hiring for full-time and part-time camp instructors! Our temporary Summer Camp instructors will deliver innovative and engaging science programming and facilitate hands-on science activities.
