  • Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development provided $384,146 for COVID-19 Response Funding.
  • Fisher Fund of the Pittsburgh Foundation awarded $50,000 for operating.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers Sports, Inc. awarded $50,000 for operating.
  • John Rangos donated $25,000 for The Rangos Giant Cinema.
  • Hilda M. Willis Foundation awarded $25,000 for STEM education.
  • Green Mountain Energy awarded $75,000 for presenting sponsorship of Buhl Planetarium shows.
  • Eaton awarded $100,000 for presenting sponsorship of the Carnegie Science Awards and sponsorship of STEM education programs (including Pittsburgh Regional Science & Engineering Fair, SciTech, and Girls Rock Science).
  • Arconic Foundation awarded $50,000 for STEM education.

  • Allegheny Health Network awarded $45,000 to renew presenting sponsorship of BodyStage.
  • NOVA Chemicals awarded $100,000 for continued support of STEM as Founding Partner, presenting sponsorship of Carnegie STEMGirls+, and Award Sponsor of the 2021 Carnegie Science Awards
  • Reach Cyber Charter School awarded $25,000 to renew presenting sponsorship of the Miniature Railroad and Village®

Science Center in the News

  • Atlas Obscura opens in a new window, a national online travel magazine, published a story about civil rights leader Daisy Lampkin and the model of her Hill District home that is now on display in the Miniature Railroad & Village®.
  • In April, the Science Center collaborated with Leadership Pittsburgh and Best of the Batch Foundation to present a “maker” bootcamp for students and mentors, which was covered by KDKA opens in a new window.
  • On June 9, the Science Center made several announcements — including the construction of a new exhibition gallery and partnership with Astrobotic — that will expand the emerging space economy in the region. The announcements were covered by several outlets, including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette opens in a new window and Pittsburgh Business Times opens in a new window.
  • Science of Hockey, the new Science on the Road assembly developed in partnership with PPG and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, was highlighted in a KDKA Kidsburgh segment opens in a new window that aired on June 15.
