Math + Science = Success

Presented by Carnegie Science Center and Math & Science Collaborative

Kids who get science get great jobs

The economic demands of the 21st century challenge the American workforce to develop strong skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Math and science are the pillars of a firm STEM foundation. Math is the gatekeeper for science because students cannot learn higher level science without understanding mathematics.

To help ensure our region's economic prosperity, Carnegie Science Center partnered with the Math & Science Collaborative and WTAE 4 to launch the community awareness campaign: Math + Science = Success.

Sponsored by Pittsburgh-based FedEx Ground, the campaign aims to encourage students to enroll in higher level math and science courses. "There is no math gene" and "All kids can, and need to, learn math and science" are among the messages the campaign delivers to parents, caregivers, teachers, and kids.

Visit www.mathsciencesuccess.org for online resources that will help you and your child plan for future success. WTAE's math+science=success web page provides inspiring stories of STEM professionals, information on upcoming events, and relevant news items, as well as links to resources for students and educators.
