To celebrate National Reading Day, this program for students in grades 2–4 combines STEM and language arts through hands-on activities highlighting STEM concepts in children’s stories. Activities are derived from select books on the required reading lists for each grade to enrich existing curriculum. STEM concepts come to life even for students who have not read the books beforehand and can spark an interest in reading through engaging, story-aligned activities. The event features 20-minute scheduled activities, and open, table-top experiences throughout the building. Participants also learn about related STEM careers through role playing and connections highlighted by activity presenters.
