Oh no! Someone has stolen all of the colors from the city of Spectropolis… and we need your help to restore color to the city!
In the Great Color Caper, help solve the mystery of the missing colors as you learn about the nature of light, how colors are derived from light and pigments, and how we see and perceive them. Join local scientists from PPG Industries in this fast-paced adventure. With high-energy, interactive, multimedia demonstrations on the scientific principles behind color and light, the Great Color Caper is the most brilliant show we’ve ever taken on the road!
Produced in partnership with PPG Industries.

The Great Color Caper All-Day Adventure
Add Adventure Stations to the Great Color Caper assembly program to create a full-day experience. Begin your special science day with The Great Color Caper assembly program and then dive in deeper into the science as students explore color and light in small groups. Students experiment at 10 different activity stations that cover topics like UV light, emission spectrum analysis and chromatography. Every student also receives a science souvenir.
Adult volunteers play a vital role in the expanded program. Your Carnegie Science Center presenter will conduct a training workshop for the adult volunteers 45 minutes before the first assembly show.

In 2006, The Great Color Caper was the first of three new, large-scale, spectacular assembly programs being created with the generous support of PPG Industries. Scientists from PPG have assisted in the development of each show, adding their knowledge of cutting-edge research and technology to Carnegie Science Center’s expertise in presenting scientific concepts in engaging, entertaining ways. Each show travels in its own van and will include mind-blowing demonstrations and experiments. New this year, check out Fractured Physics , an earth-shattering look into the world of glass, and be on the watch for a new show on chemistry in 2008. You won’t want to miss any of them! |
