Hands-On Exploration

Investigate science careers, experiment with roller coasters, build a bridge, explore our city and navigate the three rivers... Carnegie Science Center summer camps let your child discover science as a fun, creative way to explore the world. With Carnegie Science Center as home base, summer campers have access to hundreds of hands-on exhibits, the world-class Buhl Digital Dome high-definition planetarium, a real Cold War submarine, the Rangos Omnimax Theater, Highmark SportsWorks®, and dozens of science communication professionals. Your summer camp experience is specially designed to offer opportunities the school-year classroom can’t, with plenty of individual hands-on activities, supervised exploration, and interactive fun.

Real Teachers
Carnegie Science Center camp instructors are professional teachers and college seniors majoring in science or education, assisted by college students with documented experience working with children. Programs are designed by camp instructors and full-time Science Center professionals to be age-appropriate, stimulating, and exciting. All summer camp staff members, instructors, and assistants have current Act 33/34 clearances.

Reasonable Prices
Carnegie Science Center camp registration fees include all scheduled activities, instruction, supplies, a summer camp T-shirt and plenty of time to explore the Science Center. Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh members enjoy discounted fees. Fees vary by length of camp, and camps with field trips may have additional costs. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available, thanks to the generous support of the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh, the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh, and the Frank W. and Helen W. Lang Fund for Science Education. For more information, call 412.237.1637.
