Exciting things are happening at Carnegie Science Center as we begin construction on a brand-new expansion! In the coming months we'll be breaking ground for the new Science Pavilion.
The expansion, to be built eastward along the Ohio River, will create a world-class destination for public exploration in science and technology and will include new classrooms, exhibit spaces, and special event space.
What's the timeline for the project?
Construction begins in late 2016 and will continue through mid-2018.
Will exhibits be closed during construction?
The plan is for all Science Center exhibit areas to remain open during the construction period.
Will the construction affect my visit at all?
During the project, how you get from place to place around the building may change. Some ramps will close and some doors may be blocked. You may be routed through a stairwell or out an alternative door to reach exhibits like the submarine. When you arrive for your visit, posted signs will direct you to the various exhibits and Science Center staff members will be happy to help guide you to your destination.
Where can I find updates on construction?
We’ll post updated directions around the building on this page as construction progresses. We'll also be posting updates on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts. Like us, friend us, follow us for the latest information!
